What consideration has the Minister given to adding osteoporosis sufferers to the list of diseases that are eligible for support from the Warm Homes programme?

Answered by Minister for Climate Change | Answered on 14/02/2024

The eligible health conditions for the Warm Homes Programme include conditions recognised by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as being at greater risk of ill health and premature death from living in a cold home, and where there is reasonable expectation that symptoms will be improved by installing energy efficiency measures in a home with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D. We currently have no evidence that osteoporosis falls into this category.

We are keen to ensure our policy is built on the most current and robust evidence base and if new evidence reveals additional conditions meet the criteria set out above, we are open to reviewing the list.
