Will the Minister outline how schools in Wales educate young learners on the opportunities and expectations of a career in the Welsh NHS?

Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language | Answered on 14/02/2024

Careers and Work-Related Experiences is a cross-cutting theme in the Curriculum for Wales linking to all Areas, including Health and Well-being.

Our national careers service, Careers Wales, provide impartial careers information and guidance, tailored to a learner’s individual needs, to ensure they are aware of all the options available to them. Information relating to careers in the health sector, including the NHS, is also available on the Careers Wales website.

Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) actively engages with schools, colleges, universities, and partners to attract and increase awareness of the career opportunities available in the Welsh NHS. HEIW’s web-platform Careersville/Tregfyra, targeted at 8-25 years olds, provides helpful information for young people about careers in health.
