What impact will the Scottish Government's decision to delay the launch of their deposit return scheme until 2025 have on the Welsh Government's own deposit return scheme proposals?

There is no direct impact from the Scottish Government’s decision to delay the launch of the scheme. However, the UK Government decision to grant a limited exemption to the Scottish Deposit Return Scheme, which gave rise to the Scottish Government’s decision, has impacted upon the timetable for the introduction of DRS in Wales, England and Northern Ireland. This is because it has required further work on interoperability between the schemes with the aim now being to launch them at the same time across the UK.
