How will the Minister ensure that all schools across Wales are able to offer a comprehensive science education to all students now that there are three separate routes through the sciences and a shortage of science teachers, especially specialists in physics?

Science and Technology forms an integral part of the Curriculum for Wales and the mandatory statements of what matters for the Area reflect the breadth and interdependencies of the science disciplines.

We also provide funding for a number of STEM initiatives that support a breadth of STEM disciplines including, the Physics Mentoring Programme and the Engineering Education Scheme Wales.

There are a number of financial incentives available to attract high quality STEM graduates into initial teacher education (ITE) in Wales.  Details of theses can be found on the Welsh Government website.
