What is the current predicted cost of the North Wales Metro?
The Welsh Government’s metro programmes are made up of many different projects which are at different stages of their development. There is not a total predicted cost. Whether projects proceed will depend upon the strength of their business case and the availability of funding, including from the UK Government for non-devolved infrastructure.
We are moving away from the concept of metros, and to regional transport planning. The four Corporate Joint Committees across Wales are currently developing Regional Transport Plans, which will support local partners to work at a strategic level to deliver the aims of Llwybr Newydd - the Wales Transport Strategy - and in a way that is tailored to their context. The groundwork for this has been set by our metro programmes.
