What funding does Welsh Government provide for women's refuges and charities in North Wales?

Answered by Minister for Social Justice and Chief Whip | Answered on 14/02/2024

The total funding from the Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) budget allocated directly to specialist organisations and charities providing refuge and other community-based services in North Wales for 2023/24 is £1.18 million.

A further £875k is allocated from this budget to local authorities and police forces in North Wales for VAWDASV services. A significant proportion of this will be used to directly commission refuge and frontline community-based services for women and other survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence and other forms of violence against women and girls.

I am once again proud to have been able to protect this vital funding despite the challenging financial climate.

It should also be noted that further funding for VAWDASV services also comes from other Welsh Government budgets such as Health, Housing and Education.
