Will the Minister outline what support, other than financial, the Welsh Government makes available to GPs in Wales?
Health boards manage contracts with local providers of general medical services (GMS) and will offer a range of support to their contractors, both formal and informal. Examples of formal support mechanisms include support following a change in practice escalation status, or on receipt of a sustainability application.
Welsh Government have recognised the need for support for health and wellbeing to complement the local support available for the workforce. For example, we are providing £1.5 million per year to support the expanded Canopi (previously Health for Health Professionals (HHP)) service which offers free and confidential expert psychological support for health and social care staff. This service is available to GMS contractors.
