How does the Welsh Government plan to allay residents' fears of explosions coming from hydrogen plants, such as from the planned Hybont plant in Bridgend?

Answered by Deputy Minister for Climate Change | Answered on 15/02/2024

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) provides expert advice to local planning authorities when considering applications involving hazardous substances. HSE advises on whether risks from hazardous substances are acceptable in the context of existing and potential uses of neighbouring land. HSE is also responsible for regulating hydrogen plants once built. Therefore, there are robust procedures in place to provide assurance to communities when such installations are proposed and during their operation.
