Will the Minister outline what the Welsh Government is doing to support people being made redundant as a consequence of the development of artificial intelligence?
Interest in the implications of AI for all sectors has exploded over the past twelve months. It is vital that there is sufficient knowledge and understanding – for both employers and the workforce – of the benefits, risks and impacts of using AI technologies in the workplace.
While AI creates a massive opportunity to improve service delivery, the Welsh Government recognises that it must be used ethically and safely. That is why we are taking a social partnership approach to ensuring public services use AI technologies in ways that create mutual benefits for the employer, worker and recipients and users of public services.
The Welsh Government's employability and skills programmes ReAct+ and Communities for Work + can help people who have been impacted by redundancy to find new employment in as short a time as possible. ReAct+ can help people acquire the skills that employers are looking for.
Both programmes are underpinned by robust labour market information.
