What assessment has the Minister made of the recent survey results suggesting that more than eight in ten teachers believe that the new curriculum is not raising standards, following the ITV article from 30 January 2024?
It is essential that we, and our partners across the education system, are able to draw on robust, reliable and trustworthy information on educational standards to provide the right support for schools. We will continue to do that and to engage in regular dialogue with the teaching profession.
Building on the ‘early insights’ studies and evaluation plan published last year, our formative evaluation programme enables researchers to work with schools across Wales to understand curriculum progress for all learners. We are also developing national sample-based assessments to provide a rolling picture of standards in learning.
