How does the Welsh Government aim to ensure that available land is utilised efficiently to address the housing crisis Wales is currently facing?

Local Planning Authorities are required to identify suitable land to meet the housing needs of  local communities in their Local Development Plans (LDP). The housing need requirement is derived from the standardised Local Housing Market Assessments which has been introduced by the Welsh Government. Whilst LDPs must ensure that sufficient land is brought forward to meet housing need, identified sites must also adopt  the placemaking principles necessary to create sustainable communities.
