What discussions is the Minister having with local authorities on what steps they can take to prevent raising council tax?
I discuss local government financial and performance matters regularly through the Partnership Council and its Finance sub group, with the WLGA Council and Executive, and individually with Leaders. I know that across Wales, Leaders, elected members and officers alike are striving to find ways to make the best use of resources to make the most difference for their communities, a task which is made all the more difficult by the fact that the UK Government has consistently failed to invest in public services. Setting council tax is the responsibility of councils, and it is an important part of local democracy.
