What long-term measures is the Welsh Government taking to allow their anti-poverty initiatives to be sustainable?

Answered by Minister for Social Justice and Chief Whip | Answered on 02/02/2024

The Welsh Government’s Child Poverty Strategy for Wales  was published on 23 January.

It is a long-term Strategy, focusing on those areas where Welsh Government can have the greatest impact within the powers we have available.

The strategy sets the direction for Welsh Government actions to tackle child poverty over the next decade or more to meet our ambitions for children and young people in Wales, no matter what their circumstances or background. It also provides a framework to maximise the levers we have in Wales at our disposal to make our contribution to eradicating child poverty.

The Strategy includes a commitment to produce a framework to monitor and report on outcomes. This will support our decision making on whether the actions we are taking are the right ones.
