What long-term commitment will the Minister give to funding the diabetes prevention programme to relieve the burden on NHS Wales caused by diabetes and other diseases where excess weight is a risk factor?

The Welsh Government recognises the impact that Type 2 Diabetes has on individuals and remains concerned about the projections that show ever increasing numbers of people in Wales living with the disease and its consequences. In its first year, the All Wales Diabetes Prevention Programme offered support to over 3,000 people across Wales who were at an increased risk of type 2 diabetes. I can confirm that the All Wales Diabetes Prevention Programme will see a continuation of its funding, of £1m per annum, for the 24/25 financial year. Our funding priorities for the 25/26 financial year will be laid out through the usual budgetary processes.
