There are many, varied, reasons why parents may choose home education for their child. These can include lifestyle choices, children being withdrawn due to anxiety, or a parental relationship breakdown with schools. Parents are under no obligation to provide a reason to the school or local authority as to why they are choosing to home educate their child.

The Welsh Government have provided funding of £1.7 million per year over a 3-year period to support the implementation of the guidance. This funding has enabled local authorities to enhance their capacity to provide support for families and allowed the development of a core offer which has been agreed by all 22 local authorities.
