What discussions has the Minister had with stakeholders on the Welsh Government's potential plans for entry fees for National Museums in Wales?

Like all our culture arm’s length bodies, Amgueddfa Cymru is exploring all available income-generating opportunities. This includes exploring a range of potential future charging options, such as charging for entry to some or all its museums.

This exploratory work is at an early stage. As such, the only discussion I have had with stakeholders is a very initial conversation with Amgueddfa Cymru’s chair and chief executive during my most recent biannual meeting when their intention to consider a variety of potential options was discussed.

Any significant change to Amgueddfa Cymru’s charging policy would be a decision for its Board of Trustees in the first instance and would have to be considered by the Welsh Ministers alongside our policy for access to the national collection.

I will update the Senedd if any proposal to change Amgueddfa Cymru’s charging policy emerges.
