How is the Welsh Government supporting farm diversification, and how will unsuccessful applicants of the Food Business Accelerator scheme be supported?

Answered by Minister for Rural Affairs and North Wales, and Trefnydd | Answered on 24/01/2024

We continue to support farmers to diversify through our horticultural and agricultural diversification schemes. Advice and skills development to support a diversification enterprise is also provided through Farming Connect.

Support will continue for unsuccessful applicants of the Food Business Accelerator scheme. Our Cywain project supports new and existing micro and SME businesses. Through the Trade Development Programme, we are helping businesses to increase trade with retailers, independent stores, the public sector and food service within the UK. We also provide technical and operational support on all aspects of food manufacturing to businesses through our three Food Technology Centres. Unsuccessful applicants can re-apply in the future should further application windows of the scheme be made available.
