Welsh Government Transport maintain a number of specialist buildings across Wales in order to safely operate the strategic road network.
Namely:
2 traffic management centres (TMC) – part of the WG core estate
2 disaster recovery buildings used for TMC backup – one north, one south
1 gatehouse, Menai bridge
18 Transmission Buildings – used to house IT equipment at the roadside, various sizes
11 Tunnel Service buildings – Used to house tunnel operating equipment alongside the tunnels
11 Highways Depots – used for Salt storage and operational requirements for the SRN maintenance
