What will the Welsh Government be doing in 2024 to reduce rural crime?
The Welsh Government is committed to tackling wildlife and rural crime in Wales. The Wales Wildlife and Rural Crime Strategy launched last year in collaboration with the four police areas in Wales is delivering advances in the detection and enforcement of wildlife and rural crime in Wales as well as providing a consistency of approach across the four police areas.
The All Wales Wildlife and Rural Crime Coordinator, a post which is funded by the Welsh Government, is leading on facilitating the strategy. We have also developed and published a Theory of Change for the Wales Wildlife and Rural Crime Programme, and we will be engaging with stakeholders towards the end of this year on the development of the next strategy.
Wales is leading the way in terms of tackling rural crime with our Coordinator being asked to advise how our approach can be replicated across the UK.
