Does the Minister plan to include statutory targets in the Welsh Government's new child poverty strategy?

Answered by Minister for Social Justice and Chief Whip | Answered on 17/01/2024

The Welsh Government believe that the most effective way to measure implementation is through a co-ordinated approach across every level where relevant powers are held.  I have committed to develop a framework which will monitor and report on the impact and outcomes of this strategy and which will demonstrate the progress we are making to deliver against our objectives for tackling child poverty. The framework will take into consideration the national indicators and national milestones we already have in place under the Well-being of Future Generations Act.

We believe a framework based on a range of measures will support us to more accurately reflect the impact of our approach to this complex set of problems.
