Will the Minister outline the consultation process taken by the Welsh Government with local authorities regarding the Education Reform Grant?
From April 2024, education reform funding will now form part of the new Local Authority Education Grant (LAEG).
At present, pre-16 education grant funding from Welsh Government is issued to multiple recipients through multiple grant awards. To simplify national funding mechanisms and reduce the bureaucratic burden on our local authority partners, a decision was made to simplify and streamline this funding going forward.
Whilst developing this new approach, Welsh Government officials consulted with the Association of Directors of Education in Wales (ADEW), this forum also includes WLGA representatives.
