Will the Minister set out what consequences are in place, if any, for local authorities in areas where local development plans are not being followed correctly?

Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) should make decisions in accordance with the Local Development Plan (LDP) national planning policy and Future Wales. The onus is on LPAs to fully comply with their own local policies. Where an LPA fails to implement their own policies there is the likelihood of successful planning appeals. There is a requirement to notify Welsh Ministers where an LPA proposes to approve 10 or more house not allocated in the LDP and the possibility of applications being called in. All LDP are subject to a 4 year LDP review cycle. Welsh Ministers also possess direction powers which may be used to direct the review of an LDP at any time.
