How many people are living with hydrocephalus in Wales?
Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services | Answered on 02/01/2024
The data requested are not held centrally by Welsh Government.
Data published by Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) show that in 2021/22, the latest year for which figures are available, there were 113 hospital admissions for Welsh residents for which the primary diagnosis was recorded as hydrocephalus. These admissions data do not measure how many people were actually living with hydrocephalus, however. You may wish to contact Public Health Wales (Contact Us - Public Health Wales (nhs.wales)) to enquire if information about the prevalence of hydrocephalus is available.
