What assessment has the Minister made of the impact on individuals and their families who are unable to gain access to dementia support services owing to a pre-existing underlying condition?

Answered by Deputy Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing | Answered on 22/12/2023

The vision of the Dementia Action Plan is the provision of person-centred care. A major focus of this has been the development of All Wales Dementia Care Pathway of Standards. As part of the Regional Integration Funding that has been allocated to Regional Partnership Boards, they are required to evidence that this funding aligns and supports the implementation of the dementia care standards.

The document itself recognises that someone presenting with dementia may have other health needs, but it is expected that reasonable adjustments are made to ensure that services are accessible. This can include making environmental adjustments or the provision of learning and development opportunities.
