How does the Welsh Government plan to support the Welsh Rugby Union financially while they pay back their COVID loans?

Answered by Deputy Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism | Answered on 20/12/2023

The Welsh Government was approached by the WRU to enable them to buy out their UK Government CLBILS loan which they stated had unaffordable repayment terms which would affect the long-term sustainability of the professional game in Wales. As a result, the Welsh Government provided an £18m loan on standard commercial terms and conditions which were agreed by both parties.
