When does the Minister expect phase 2 of the Welsh Building Safety Fund to formally begin?
We now have a route to remediation for all buildings through the Welsh Building Safety Fund. This is not limited to buildings with unsafe cladding. Wales is the only UK nation to make this commitment.
The second phase of the Welsh Building Safety Fund, during which remediation works will be undertaken, has already started.
Works are underway in 37 private sector buildings, with 34 more scheduled to start in 2024, although this number will increase as more projects come on line. Workplans are being prepared for other private sector buildings.
Our social sector programme of work is also underway and will benefit 131 buildings across Wales.
