Will the Minister confirm how many new secondary school teachers were recruited in Wales in 2023, as well as the previous total from 2022?

Data from the School Workforce Annual Census (SWAC) shows that 1,113 teaching posts were advertised in secondary schools in Wales in 2021/22, with 960 appointments made. It is not possible to identify how many of these posts were filled by new teachers. Data for 2022/23 is not yet available.
Based on data from the HESA data record 580 people successfully qualified from a secondary school level ITE course in Wales in 2021/22.
