How is the Welsh Government encouraging local authorities to take more ambitious steps towards decarbonisation and net zero?

We are providing a range of support to encourage local authorities to be more ambitious in their approach to net zero. This includes setting our priorities in policy and supporting the local authorities to meet these through funding and through technical advice and support; encouraging them to work collectively, for example through a joint procurement contract for electric vehicles, with the added incentive of achieving economies of scale; jointly developing a toolkit to aid better decision making in their land use; and providing guidance on reducing carbon in their procurement contracts.
