What are the annual running costs of the Welsh Youth Parliament, both in staff time and financial commitments?
The Welsh Youth Parliament (WYP) gives young people the opportunity to engage and debate the issues of importance to young people. As well as raising awareness of and debating the issues important to young people in Wales, WYP Members also contribute to Senedd Business in various ways.
This has included taking part in a focus group with the Finance Committee to scrutinise the Welsh Government’s Draft Budget (23-24) and over 3,600 young people from across Wales contributed to the Mental Health and Wellbeing Committees work that informed the report’s findings and recommendations.
Engagement Services have two dedicated members of staff for WYP (one full time and one part time). Annual running costs are £60k in a non-election year and £65k in an election year.
