What discussions has the Minister had with the Football Association of Wales on the accessibility of sports facilities?
My officials, along with Sport Wales, regularly meet with the FAW and facilities are a regular item of discussion. The FAW, whilst not owners of many facilities have recently conducted an audit to assess the number and condition of football sites, including pitches, pavilions and changing rooms, against projected need. It will use this data in developing its facilities strategy for football in Wales.
It is the responsibility of owners and/or operators of all these facilities to ensure they comply with accessibility requirements as set out in legislation. This will include local authorities, schools, private and community clubs and the FAW where they do own facilities.
