How much has the Welsh Government's education budget decreased by in real terms since 1 January 2023?

Based on the changes to the 2023-24 budget until the Finance Minister’s announcement on 17 October, the Education and Welsh Language budget within Departmental Expenditure Limits in 2023-24 is worth £146m less in real terms than expected at the beginning of January this year. This excludes the bulk of school spending funded via local authorities through the Revenue Support Grant (RSG). In 2023-24, funding for the local authority settlement increased by 7.9%.
