How has the Welsh Government marked World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week?

Answered by Minister for Rural Affairs and North Wales, and Trefnydd | Answered on 29/11/2023

Welsh Government support for World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) has focussed on social media activity to help raise awareness of the importance of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). This has included promoting the work of the Wales Animal and Environment AMR Delivery Group and wider campaigns such as the antibiotic amnesty. Aside from our social media activity, the Cathays Park building was also lit in blue on Tuesday the 21st November as part of the World Health Organisations Go Blue Campaign.

WAAW has also provided an opportunity to share further information about the Arwain DGC project, which delivers a range of exciting projects to control AMR and promote animal health, here in Wales. Further information, about the range of projects being delivered, can be found on their website.

The Welsh Government continues to contribute towards collective efforts in tackling AMR, and we have also shared messages for other Wales and UK stakeholders, ensuring WAAW activity reaches as wide an audience as possible.
