Will the Minister provide a full breakdown of the total running costs to the Welsh Government and Welsh Government-funded bodies of conducting and analysing the National Survey for Wales each year since its inception?
The National Survey for Wales is carried out for Welsh Government and sponsored bodies by an external contractor. From 2023-24 onwards the contractor is Kantar Public.
Since the survey began in its current form in 2016-17, core contract costs (primarily for fieldwork) total approximately £12.6m. A team within Welsh Government designs and manages the survey, and analyses and reports on the results; staff costs (based on average grade costs) over the same period total approximately £3.0m.
