How does the Minister aim to address the delays in surveys being carried out that in turn prevent the commencement of remediation work?
The Welsh Building Safety Fund provides surveys at no cost to leaseholders. If surveys were carried out prior to the launch of the fund, these costs may be reimbursed by the Welsh Government, subject to criteria being met, which will allow leaseholders to be repaid.
The delay in Welsh Government survey work is separate to the contractual commitments made by developers to undertake fire safety works in buildings of 11 metres or over in height. We work closely with developers to ensure they are able to meet the terms of their contract and there are no barriers to works being undertaken.
My officials also meet regularly with Firstport and other managing agents to discuss matters that leaseholders report to us, which includes remediation works.
