What concrete plans does the Minister have to ensure Wales can quadruple the number of wind farms it has within the next decade in order to meet the Welsh Government's green ambitions?

We have set new targets for Wales to fully meet our electricity needs from renewable sources by 2035 to address the climate crisis. Welsh Government policy supports the principle of developing renewable and low carbon energy from all technologies and at all scales. Future Wales policies 17 and 18 set out the Welsh Government’s policies for renewable and low carbon energy development, identifying 10 Pre-Assessed Areas where there is a presumption in favour of large‑scale wind energy development. In addition, the Infrastructure (Wales) Bill was introduced into the Senedd on 12 June. Subject to receiving consent of the Senedd, it will provide a new consenting process which streamlines and unifies consenting arrangements for renewables, as well as other large scale devolved infrastructure projects, in Wales.
