Will the Minister outline what support is available for trustees managing historic buildings and assets of community value?
Welsh Government through Cadw provides capital support to the Architectural Heritage Fund, enabling it to offer project viability grants and project development grants to charities and social enterprises to help them secure new uses for historic buildings for the benefit of their communities. In the current financial year, Cadw awarded a grant of £350k to the AHF to support this work.
Cadw also provides modest revenue support to the Heritage Trust Network to support its activity in Wales championing and supporting heritage trusts and other community organisations.
Trustees managing buildings can get advice and support, from their local county voluntary council. Contact details can be found at Third Sector Support Wales.
Funding Wales provides information on a range of local and national funding opportunities. Many of these may be useful to those managing buildings.
The Welsh Government’s Community Facilities Programme provides capital grants of up to £300k to help communities to purchase and improve community facilities.
The Community Asset Loan Fund is operated by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action on behalf of the Welsh Government. This Fund provides loans of up to £300k over a maximum of 25 years. Loans are available to incorporated voluntary sector organisations who aim to purchase and improve community assets.
