What discussions has the Minister had with Red Tractor regarding the potential addition of environmental measures to their assurance scheme, and would those additions align with future Welsh Government support such as the Sustainable Farming Scheme?
Farm assurance organisations such as Red Tractor and Farm Assured Welsh Livestock are engaged with the Welsh Government on the design of our future farm support mechanism including the Sustainable Farming Scheme (SFS), in line with the Sustainable Land Management (SLM) Objectives in the Agriculture (Wales) Act. The actions of these schemes, including the proposed voluntary Red Tractor environmental module, are compatible with the environmental, business performance and animal health and welfare actions in SFS, helping us respond to the climate emergency whilst producing food sustainably.
