What discussions has the Minister had with the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee regarding the possibility of introducing specialised allergy services and desensitisation therapy?

Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services | Answered on 04/10/2023

The Welsh Government recognises the difficulties that people living with allergies face daily, and that for some symptoms can be severe and require urgent medical attention.

The Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee do not currently commission allergy and immunotherapy services and there are no plans for this to change in the short to medium term.

Local health boards are responsible for planning and delivering the provision of allergy and immunotherapy services across their locality in line with NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) quality standards.
