How many private sector landlords are registered with Rent Smart Wales?
Welsh Government does not hold data on the number of landlords not registered with Rent Smart Wales. Many private landlords are exempt from the requirements to register, such as resident landlords, and those who offer agricultural tenancies, or tenancies linked to employment. Where Rent Smart Wales are aware of an unregistered landlord who is required to register, then they take steps to ensure compliance, up to and including prosecution. To the end of August 2023, 101,960 landlords were registered with Rent Smart Wales.
