What action has the Minister taken following the publication of the When End of Life Care Goes Wrong report by the Lords and Commons Family and Child Protection Group at the start of 2023?

Our overall vision for end-of-life care in Wales is set out within the Palliative and End of Life Care Quality Statement published in October 2022. The quality statement describes what good end of life care services should look like and its implementation is being overseen and monitored by the National Programme Board for Palliative and End of Life Care and Welsh Government policy officials.

My answer to WQ88170 published on 19 May 2023 advised of the complaints procedures in place, the tools and mechanisms being used to monitor implementation of the Quality Statement and the actions that are already being taken by the National Programme Board for End of Life Care to address many of the issues raised in the Lords and Commons Family and Child Protection Group publication ‘When end of life care goes wrong’.

The Board is scheduled to discuss the publication in more detail at its meeting on 22 September 2023.
