What discussions has the Minister had with the UK Government on recovering the funding support lost from the EU that is yet to be met by the Levelling Up Fund, in light of the report “Post-EU regional development funding” by the Economy, Trade and Rural Affairs Committee,?

Answered by Minister for Economy | Answered on 25/09/2023

The shortfall to the Wales from the UK Government not honouring its commitment to fully replace EU structural and rural funds is £1.1bn.

I have raised this matter with successive UK Ministers and the Minister for Finance and Local Government has outlined our position at meetings of the Finance: Interministerial Standing Committee.

The funding loss has been broken down and is available on the Welsh Government website.

I will continue to raise with the UK Government this issue and the other problems associated with UK Government designed post-EU funding schemes, which were highlighted in the ETRA Committee report.
