What consideration has the Minister given to the role of students in the appointments of the Commission for Tertiary Education and Research?
The National Union of Students Wales were invited to participate in the panel which considered the applications for the Chair and Deputy Chair of the Board of the Commission for Tertiary Education and Research.
In addition, to ensure the learner voice is represented on the Board, Schedule 1 of the Tertiary Education and Research (Wales) Act 2022 requires the Board to have at least one associate learner member. This learner (or learners) will be appointed following consideration of the nominations received from the list of bodies representing the interests of learners undertaking tertiary education in Wales. This list of bodies is currently the subject of a public consultation which closes on 29 September. I shall be interested to receive and then fully consider the responses to that consultation before finalising the list.
