Does the Welsh Government intend to inspect social housing in Wales for RAAC?

Answered by Minister for Climate Change | Answered on 18/09/2023

Information about the presence of RAAC in social housing in Wales has been requested from stock holding local authorities as part of the assessments of the wider public estate. Registered Social Landlords have also been asked to make an assessment of their stock via Community Housing Cymru.

The Welsh Government has set up a cross-government group to oversee its response to this fast-moving and complex issue, affecting buildings across the public sector.

We continue to recommend that existing guidance from the Institution of Structural Engineers is used to investigate and assess the presence of RAAC in public buildings. Its supplementary guidance published this year includes advice on assessing risk, remediation and managing where RAAC is found to be present.
