Further to WQ88002, will the Minister provide an update on the Welsh Government's commitment to reducing the speed limit on the main road through Scleddau?

Answered by Deputy Minister for Climate Change | Answered on 25/08/2023

As advised in WQ88002, we are currently updating the Setting Local Speed Limits in Wales (SLSLiW) guidance to reflect current Welsh Government policy, including the national roll-out of 20mph speed limits and Llwybr Newydd: the Wales Transport Strategy 2021

The new SLSLiW guidance will be published next year, aligned to the new Road Safety Strategy and may include a change in the criteria for lower speed limits in Wales.

The Welsh Government will review the speed limits across the trunk road network, including the A40 through Scleddau, following publication of that updated guidance.
