Will the First Minister outline how the agreement with Cornwall will promote the use of Welsh and Cornish?
Our ‘culture and language’ commitments within the agreement with Cornwall, Celtic Heritage – Cornwall-Wales Collaboration Agreement, will build on the strong relationship that we have developed over the years with Cornwall Council through the Indigenous, Minority and Lesser-Used Languages work sector of the British-Irish Council.
We will focus on sharing best practice in a range of areas relating to language revitalisation. Those areas include: increasing the use of our languages amongst young people, including the Siarter Iaith (Welsh Language Charter); area-based language profiles to support local intervention; place names; cultural projects with grant partners such as Urdd Gobaith Cymru and the National Eisteddfod and through initiatives such as Dydd Miwsig Cymru (Welsh Language Music Day); as well as early years provision, including developing the workforce and supporting parents.
