What assessment has the Welsh Government made of the possibility of Wales stepping in to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games?

A detailed assessment of the cost of hosting the games, undertaken in 2017, indicated a cost in excess of £1 billion.
Given the significant budget constraints placed on us by the UK Government and our focus on delivering the priorities outlined in our Programme for Government, we are unable to consider supporting the Commonwealth Games.
