Will the Minister commit to allowing communication to happen between Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and schools regarding pupils who are trying to or currently accessing support?
Our whole school approach framework, the statutory guidance for supporting the wellbeing of learners, recognises that the school is part of a much wider system and that information sharing among agencies and with schools is central to supporting the wellbeing needs of children and young people. We are investing £5.3m in the current year to support CAMHS school in-reach, which operates across all of Wales. The in-reach sees dedicated mental health practitioners in schools providing consultation, liaison, advice and training and acting as the bridge between the school and specialist services.
