To what extent is rubbish collected on Transport for Wales rail services recycled or sent to landfill?
Answered by Deputy Minister for Climate Change | Answered on 07/07/2023
Transport for Wales do not currently send waste to landfill. In 2021/22 approximately 10% of Transport for Wales waste was processed through closed loop recycling (96.2 tonnes) and 90% (825.1 tonnes) of waste was processed via waste to energy solutions. Transport for Wales are seeking to increase the amount of waste that is recycled and are undertaking waste audits and developing a Waste Action Plan to increase their recycling rates.
