What efforts are being made by the Welsh Government to alleviate the strain on vets and charities over the spring and summer periods due to the influx of injured or sick wildlife?

Veterinary practices and wildlife hospitals operate in the private sector.  Last year, there was a major spread of avian influenza to wild birds, and GB-wide engagement has taken place to provide biosecurity guidance and communications to the wildlife rescue and rehabilitation sector. We advise that wildlife charities and veterinary practices do not take in birds suspected of having avian influenza and report wildlife presenting with signs of nervous disease to the Animal and Plant Health Agency.
