What response has the Minister received from the UK Government following the request to introduce a social tariff on energy bills?

Answered by Minister for Social Justice and Chief Whip | Answered on 19/05/2023

In his letter of 6 February, the Rt Hon Graham Stuart MP, Minister of State for Energy and Climate confirmed the UK Government will look at options, including social tariffs, as part of wider retail market reforms, and welcomed Welsh Government’s engagement. The development of options is part of the new approach to consumer protection in energy markets announced in the Autumn Statement

I met with Amanda Solloway MP, Minister for Energy Consumers and Affordability 5 April and she gave her commitment to discuss a social tariff and a further meeting is proposed for the end of June to discuss this further.
